Scholarship Opportunities for OPTA Members

The Oregon Permit Technicians Association (OPTA) is offering two scholarships per year, one
scholarship awarded at the spring conference, and one awarded at the fall conference. There are
three categories for which you may apply. It is OPTA’s goal to give scholarships in at least two
different categories, but if applications are received in only one category, two scholarships will be
awarded from that category. You may apply for only one scholarship per year.
First category: Re-imbursement of the fees for taking and passing the Permit Technician
Certification test. When you have passed the certification test, provide documentation to the
Scholarship Chairperson for re-imbursement of fees paid. Scholarship amount: Amount of current
test.
Second category: Tuition for two days of classes at either the Spring or Fall OPTA Conference.
Scholarship amount: Amount of current tuition, approximately $250.00.
Third category: For the person who wants to advance their career by taking additional courses at an
accredited college or university. The successful applicant will enroll in an accredited school and
then tuition will be paid directly to the college. Scholarship amount: $250.00.
To be eligible for one of the scholarships, the applicant must be a current OPTA member in good
standing, complete the application, and return it to the OPTA Scholarship Chairperson along with
your essay and (1) professional recommendation.
